NAMIC Insurance Company (NAMICO), NAMIC’s in-house professional liability insurance company, currently has an outstanding opportunity for a database engineer. NAMICO was started by the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) to address the needs of NAMIC members (property/casualty insurance companies) in the area of professional liability insurance and has been in operation for over thirty years.
The Database Engineer is responsible for database architecture, design, development and test support, including daily database management, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities for data engineering development projects. This individual will work with project team and end users to analyze and understand business problems and develop sound solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Architects and implements data and reporting solutions to meet the business objectives of NAMIC Insurance company. • Performs complete system data design based upon business requirements, as well as prepares project plans and estimates for all database-related project elements. • Analyzes, summarizes and/or reviews data, reports findings, interprets results and/or makes recommendations. • Provides support for Business Intelligence reporting processes. • Maintains the company databases, ER diagrams, reports, data warehouses, and all other items that fall within the technical vision of the company. • Maintains the security and integrity of the organization’s data across all data stores and BI tools in accordance with established security models and standards. • Review existing data models and ER diagrams to correct, improve, or otherwise improve data flows within the company.

Qualifications include but are not limited to: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, or equivalent. • Minimum 3 years of experience in the role of a Data Architect or equivalent. • 2 - 3+ years of proven experience with Business Intelligence reporting and dashboards. • Proven experience with supporting data warehouse. • Project management experience. • Experience with Database Administration preferred, but not required • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
