Working independently, the Principal Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design and deployment of GlobalNOC’s new private cloud infrastructure, and driving the adoption of virtualization and orchestration technologies to support network management support systems. Additionally, this engineer is charged with evaluating and developing fundamentally new technologies for network management systems. The Principal Cloud Engineer will develop best practices in areas such as continuous deployment, automated testing, and hardware life cycle planning, and provide technical leadership and supervision for teams addressing highly complex network management and analysis problems. The Principal Cloud Engineer will drive projects of a broad scope with international, national, regional, metro, and campus level impact and collaborate with external and internal customers. This position will serve in an on-call rotation to provide after hours support to troubleshoot high priority network management system issues.
PAE4IT: Bachelor’s degree in related field and five year of experience developing and operating complex software and hardware systems, including one year of experience leading the design, development or operation of private cloud solutions including requirements, design, information architecture, implementation and deployment. Experience with the OpenStack ecosystem and related technologies is essential.
Combinations of related education and experience will be considered.
PAE3IT: Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years of experience developing and operating complex software and hardware systems, including one year of experience leading the design, development or operation of pritate cloud solutions including requirements, design, information architecture, implementation and deployment. Three years of experience is preferred. Experience with the OpenStack ecosystem and related technologies is essential.
6 years of experience developing and operating software services using Linux and other open source technologies. Experience with reading and writing code and scripts in multiple programming languages. Experience with IT best practices for IT operations. Experience with automation and config management using tools like ansible, puppet and chef.
Extensive experience with Linux system administration, networking, and security fundamentals. Extensive knowledge of software programming including data structures, algorithms, relational databases and software development practices. Familiarity with Network Engineering concepts and wide area networking.
Bloomington preferred, but Indianapolis can work too.
